It’s never too late
Therapy can be a space where you explore, maybe for the first time, who you are and who you want to be in the world. Trauma especially can be difficult to process if we feel unsafe or afraid of how others may feel about or react to our own valid, personal, and subjective experiences. Individual therapy provides an opportunity where you can do this work without fear of judgment, in the presence of an emotionally-attuned other. There can sometimes be a fear that if a person is coming in individually, it will have no impact on relational dynamics; however studies have shown that even one person shifting their behaviour and reactions in a dynamic can shift relationship dynamics as a whole. If it ever seems it would be helpful as agreed upon by both therapist and client, I provide therapy with a loved one present to support increased connection and understanding within personal relationships.
